Developmental Movement Therapy in Jenison, Michigan

You’ve Tried Everything.
The Pattern Hasn’t Shifted.

Quick-fix strategies.
Traditional therapies.
Being calmer. Firmer. More patient.
And still, the struggle returns.

Whether it shows up in behavior, attention, learning, coordination, or regulation — you feel it.

You don’t want medication as the first step.
You don’t want to yell.
You don’t want to overprotect.
You don’t want to sit in a waiting room.

You want to understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

You want a clear way forward.

I’ve been there too.

Over ten sessions, families consistently notice shifts in regulation, coordination, learning, and connection.

"It has been such a wonderful experience to work with Angie. She has helped our family in so many ways! She has taught my son so much. We see such a change in our son. It amazes me how much patience she has."

-Terri, parent

“Having Angie in our family’s corner has quite literally changed my life. She is knowledgeable, insightful, and deeply invested in the families she serves.”

-Christine, parent

“We have seen such a change in our daughter’s ability to connect and express herself. Her confidence has grown, and our entire family has experienced the positive impact of Angie’s work.”

-Deb, parent

How it works

Assessment: To your child, this session is all about challenging movement, engaging play, and meaningful connection with you.

You get to see your  child in action, in an environment that celebrates the unique gifts and traits of your child rather than just focusing on the struggles. While I guide the session, I'm observing how your child coordinates movement, focuses, regulates, and communicates.

Kids leave asking when they get to come back, and parents leave with hope.

1.

Understand the Child

Parent-Only Strategy Session: The next session is just for you.

Here, we talk about the assessment and discuss more thoroughly what's happening at home and school. Your insights and lived experience matter.

Together
we create a personalized plan to establish helpful routines at home that build focus, physicality, and connection with you. You leave with clarity, direction, and regulation tools you can apply immediately, for your child's nervous system and your  own.

2.

Equip the Parent

Move, Grow, Play, Connect: From here, we put the plan in action.

In eight guided parent-child sessions, we strengthen all aspects of developmental movement in fun and engaging ways. Kids receive consent-based therapeutic massage to relax the nervous system.

We build focus and improve parent-child communication so patterns shift at home— not just in the therapy room.

We talk, too, but movement, play, and connection always lead the way.

3.

Build the Foundations

I built it because my family needed it—
a framework backed by neuroscience and grounded in hope.

My two sons are grown now, but when they were young, they struggled in their own ways.

I tried traditional therapies.
I sat in waiting rooms.
I worried.
I made charts. (A lot of charts.)

And I often felt like I was failing.

What I wanted was clarity — without stepping aside as their parent.

An approach that saw the whole child — brain, body, and spirit.

I didn’t have this framework then.

For over thirty years, I have studied how the body shapes development and behavior — first as a dancer and choreographer, and now as a Registered Somatic Movement Educator/Therapist (RSME/T). I offer somatic movement therapy for children in Michigan, guiding families through movement-based developmental care.

A Few things about me

Jesus-follower with a Biblical worldview.
West Michigan born and raised.
Former dancer and choreographer.
Mom of two grown sons.
Married 29 years to the love of my life — convinced children feel safest when the adults in their lives love each other well.

I believe play belongs at every age.
I think therapy can be fun, even for parents.

I see you in your weariness because I’ve been there.

I am deeply committed to helping you raise capable kids.

My boys made it. I couldn’t be prouder. And they even hang out with us now as adults. Your kids will, too.

The Bedtime Reset

Consent-based, calming.
Designed to help the body settle and the brain catch up.

A steady place to land— at the end of the day.

Touch first, safety follows.
Before words.
Before fixing.
Before the spiral.
Regulation begins through connection.

In this short video, I’ll show you a simple, predictable touch routine for bedtime—
one your child can feel
and your nervous system can trust.
